Chellyn Boquiren

Chellyn Boquiren from The Preuss School, UCSD

Chellyn Boquiren teaches 9th grade Western Civilization and Advanced Placement United States History and 11th grade AP US History. She graduated Class of 1992 from Mira Mesa High School in San Diego, CA. She received her B.A. in Political Science from UC Berkeley (GO BEARS!), where she also minored in Ethnic Studies. At Cal (GO BEARS!) she worked with local youth in mentoring, tutoring, and outreach programs.

Upon graduating, Chellyn served as an AmeriCorps member with Partners in School Innovation where she worked on parent involvement and student literacy programs. Chellyn's first teaching assignment was at Albert Einstein Middle school in Sacramento. She taught 8 th grade history for four years at Einstein where she became a HUGE Sacramento Kings fan (Go KINGS!!!).

In 2002, Chellyn left the classroom to attain her M.A. in Education from Stanford University. From 2000-2003, Chellyn had the honor of serving as a gubernatorial appointee on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Prior to teaching at the Preuss School UCSD, she taught in Los Angeles for a year at a new charter school. Chellyn's greatest challenge and joy are her two children who are learning to say GO BEARS!
