Sharing Strategies for Success at the NASSP Conference

The Preuss School UCSD was recently invited to present at the National Association for Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Breaking Ranks 2013 School Showcase and share the school’s strategies for addressing educational challenges. The showcase was part of NASSP’s annual conference, which connects thought leaders in education to create and implement strategies for success.

The Preuss presentation focused on “Detracking: A Strategy for Educational Excellence, Equity and the Public Good.” [PDF] Presenting on behalf of Preuss were:

  • Scott Barton – Principal/Director
  • Jan Gabay – Staff Developer/English Department Chair
  • Anne Artz – Science Department Chair
  • Preuss alumni including – Bruce Alvarez, Milana Edwards, Miriam Million and Jake Sticka

The Breaking Ranks School Showcase is presented by NASSP and the Center for Secondary School Redesign and features teams from high-achieving middle level and high schools. Participating schools share their strategies for providing high-quality education and share how they overcome challenges, leverage resources and raise student achievement to the next level.
