Volunteer for Preuss School
TUTORS
We have many UCSD students who tutor as volunteers. It’s a great way to give back and a fun study break. Volunteer tutors usually come in for an hour and a half, twice a week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday). To become a volunteer tutor please download the volunteer application and contact Eva Mejia, our Volunteer Coordinator, at (858) 658-7473 or email emejia@ucsd.edu. You will be invited to one of our orientation sessions for tutors. Orientation sessions are held every quarter.
Volunteer Orientations for the Spring Quarter are scheduled for the following dates and times:
Wednesday April 2nd, 10am
Thursday April 3rd, 2pm
Monday April 7th, 2pm
Tuesday April 8th, 10am
Friday April 11th, 12pm
Wednesday April 16th, 10am
All orientations will be held in the conference room which is located in the main office of Preuss. Preuss is located on the east side of campus, next to Scripps Hospital. You can use the East Parking Shuttle, which will drop you off across the street from Preuss. Orientations should last about an hour depending on the group size.

You will also need to provide a proof of TB test result that is no more than 2 years old. Please turn that in with your application or you may receive the test from our school nurse. Applications should be submitted during orientation.

MENTORS
Members of the community - faculty included - serve as mentors for Preuss students.
Quarterly meetings are planned and activities for the mentor/mentee pairs are
also scheduled throughout the year. Mentors act in a capacity of role model,
teacher, and friend. Often the exchange between the pair is educational for
both, as both bring their own unique experiences to their exchanges. A mentor
is paired with one student, and they meet on the school's campus either during
lunch or the Advisory period at least once a week for 30 minutes.
