ASB stands for Associated Student Body and it represents the interests and
goals of the entire Preuss School Student Body. Currently there are two ASB
classes - one for middle school to develop leadership skills and a high school
class that is part elected and part appointed. Students who enroll in ASB do
so because they recognize that there is more to being successful in school than
simply doing homework. Having a positive atmosphere during the school day where
students feel wanted and accepted is critical to their success. To that end,
the officers and appointed members of the ASB class focus on providing engaging
activities that ensure a well-rounded high school experience.
Students in ASB plan, organize, and participate in such activities as formal
and informal dances, Homecoming, Spirit Week, grade-level competitions, community
awareness projects, cultural events, and Staff Recognition throughout the year.
Most of the funds for ASB come from the student-run vending program where snacks
and drinks are made available to students after their lunch break and on Saturday
during SEA.
Students must maintain high academic and citizenship grades to remain in the
class and are additionally required to work approximately 10 hours each month
outside of the class. Students are elected or appointed to the class each spring
for the following school year. If you are interested in being a leader at Preuss,
consider running for an office or applying to be appointed to the class.

1. Who is in ASB?
The Preuss School UCSD has Middle and High School ASB. Middle School ASB is
made up of 8th graders and the High School ASB is made of grades 9-12. All students
who meet the eligibility requirements are allowed to apply for ASB and the selection
process includes an essay, an interview, and teacher recommendations.
2. What does ASB do?
The role of ASB is to give back and serve the students at Preuss. The students
in ASB work to raise school spirit in events held during lunch and during events
such as Homecoming. They also work to raise student involvement in community
service projects.
3. Where does ASB get their money?
Most of the school’s money comes from the Snack Shack where students buy
their snacks and treats after lunch. Each grade also has its own fundraisers
for specific events such as the 10th grade museum trip, senior events, or 6th
grade camp.
4. How can I be an ASB member?
Being an ASB member is easy! All you have to do is fill out an application and
get an interview. You have the option of running for an office or just be an
appointed member. Everyone has a role in ASB and you should become a part of
it! The Associated Student Body is composed of students that are either voted
in or chosen by the executive board and class presidents.
