Dear Parents,

 

I was so happy to see so many parents at the Parent Council Meeting January 27.  We had over 300 parents in attendance.  What wonderful parents you are.  Thank you for your involvement.  I want to highlight some important news:

 

College Applications- All seniors applied to a University of California and a California State University.  Further, all seniors will apply to at least one private college.    Already some of our seniors have been accepted on early action: Lawam Kidane-Columbia; Sara Salas-Fordham; and Luceo Calderon - Saint Mary’s. In addition over 25 were admitted to a California State University already.  In a few months, the mail boxes will be full, I predict as many more seniors are admitted to the colleges they applied.  Academic Advisor, Phil Ensberg will have a financial aid workshop this Saturday, February 3.  Parents and seniors will be attending together and filling out those important forms that make it possible to receive the aid necessary to attend college. 

 

Science Fair- We had a record number of students in grades 7-11 who completed their science fair projects- over 438.  Only 15 students did not complete a project.  Congratulations to the following students who have been selected for Greater San Diego Science Fair in February: Donavan Cardenas, grade 9; Mai Chu, grade 8; Thuy Ly, grade 11; Paul Tran, grade 9; Jonathan Wosen, grade 10 and Melanie To, grade 11.    In a few weeks, the winners of the School science fair will be announced.  Thanks to all the parents who supported the students in this important activity.

· Monday, February 12, 2007. Lincoln’s Birthday. School will be closed.

· Monday, February 19, 2007. Washington’s Birthday. School will be closed.

Happy New Year to all of you from the Preuss PTA! Hope you had a wonderful holiday season! We are excited to start the new year at school again. We are hoping to enjoy the continued support of our parents, with many more members joining the PTA, so we can make a difference in the lives of our children. The Parent Council Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007, with panel discussions at the Middle School and High School levels. Some upcoming important dates:
