This year the Preuss School UCSD had two high school and two middle school teams compete in the NOBCChE Regional Competition. NOBCChE stands for the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers. The students who partake in the regional competition participate in a science bowl style tournament against other teams in the San Diego Area.
This year both a middle school and high school team placed
and will be competing in the National NOBCChE competition
during their spring break in Philadelphia. The high school
team will
also be competing in the National Science Bowl sponsored
by the Department of Energy in Washington DC where they will
represent
the San Diego NOBCChE Chapter. Last year in Orlando, the
high school team placed fourth at the Nationals for NOBCChE
and
with their added determination and preparation this year
they are sure to excel again.
This is the first year for our middle school team, but as seen by their performance in the regional, they will also be a force to be reckoned with.
Senior Team winners: Jonathon Wosen, Gloria Chukwueke, Fadhi Ali, Cynthia Kashiwagi, and James Noraky

Junior Team winners: Madeleine Kashiwagi, Sharon Vongvanith, Rahwa Weldeselase, and Miles Clark
